Best Fondant for Beginners

When I firsts started my home baking business I told myself I would never do fondant cakes! After watching so many TV baking competitions shows I was terrified of fondant. I saw how much people struggled with it and all of the things that could go wrong.

But I started to get requests for cakes with fondant figures so I started to give it a try and quickly went from anti-fondant to team fondant very quickly! Now not all fondants are made equal. Here is the best fondant you should use as a beginner.

Which fondant is the best for beginners?

Wilton is my absolute favorite fondant brand. I have tried many others to test them out either because the delivery time or the price was better and it hasn’t been worth it.

Wilton is a trusted name in the world of baking and cake decorating, and their fondant is no exception. Made from high-quality ingredients, their fondant is easy to work with and produces stunning results every time.

It is so much easier to work with than any other fondant I have used.

Unlike others, it doesn’t tear easily or get that alligator skin texture.

Wilton fondant comes in many flavors and pre-colored selections as well

I am absolutely impressed with the black pre-colored fondant. I tried the Satin Ice black fondant and found that it tore so easily. I was making a cake (pictured below) with a draping fabric and it took me 10x longer than I expected because it kept tearing. You can see in the picture there is still some tearing

Another great thing about Wilton's fondant is its consistency. It is easy to roll out and shape but is also sturdy enough to hold up to the weight of multiple layers and decorations. This means that you can create intricate, multi-layered cakes with ease, and the fondant will hold up perfectly.

Wilton fondant is also very easy to store and work with. It comes in a resealable package that can be stored at room temperature and is ready to use whenever you need it. It can also be easily molded and shaped by hand, making it a great option for creating intricate details and designs.

If you want an even stretchier fondant you can use Wilton fondant in this recipe to create your own marshmallow fondant.

If you're looking for a versatile, high-quality fondant that produces stunning results every time, look no further than Wilton fondant. With its ease of use, range of flavors, and consistency, it is the perfect solution for beginners. So don’t be scared of fondant anymore! Start experimenting with Wilton fondant today, and see just how easy and fun it can be!
